Imageway includes free SSL certificates with our email and web hosting packages. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, a global standard security technology that enables encrypted communication between a client and a server. It is utilized by millions of on-line businesses and individuals to decrease the risk of sensitive information (e.g., credit card numbers, usernames, passwords, emails, etc.) from being stolen or tampered with by hackers and identity thieves. In essence, SSL allows for a private “conversation” just between the two intended parties without any man in the middle (MITM) snooping.
Imageway uses Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates for all of our Email and Web Hosting customers. For the free SSL certificates to be created, you must have your domain name pointing to our hosting servers. By default we create certificates for “youdomain.com”, “www.yourdomain.com”, “mail.yourdomain.com”, and “smtp.yourdomain.com” (where “yourdomain.com” is your actual domain name). The lifetime for Let’s Encrypt certificates is currently 90 days, to minimize the impact of misused certificates. Once your certificate is nearing expiration, our system will automatically update the SSL certificate without any downtime or any interaction on your part.
